Tribute to Jerry by George, W6GF...
A really great amateur has fallen. I met Jerry about 15 years ago when I bought a radio from him. We became friends right away. We swapped stories about some people we knew. He talked about some of the problems he was having then. He even took off his shirt to show me the stitching from the surgery from his bypass operation. Yes, Jerry would give you the shirt off his back.He had a little group he talked to on 3815, but that group disintegrated and I did not hear much from Jerry. Finding WARFA was a boost to Jerry. It gave him a reason to be active. How could anybody not hear that booming voice and potent signal.
I don't know if any WARFA guys had any radio dealings with Jerry. He wasn't a dealer, he just like to fix gear and then sell it. With Jerry you never questioned the price or asked if the radio worked. He was an Engineer's Engineer.
Boy, will I miss that wonderful signal and the guy behind it.
My best to his family,
George Fritkin, W6GF
From Bill - WØQNI.
It is with a very sad heart that I have to report the death of Jerry DeMoss, K6ERI, our Tuesday night southern relay.
Last night about 7:30, Sandy Miller, his daughter, called me and said that Jerry passed on at 6:00 last night due to a heart attack.
There will be no services as he wanted to be cremated and his ashes scattered somewhere illegally.
It was only last Tuesday, 8-26-08, that he acted as southern relay. We will miss his booming base voice we all loved. He was a gentleman, always calling for Marcia (KE6FKL) and Earl, N6ECE, even if they were not there.
"Let's see if Marcia is here".
