Gary, N6ECE reports that Jerry (KD6SA) took a walk the other day. He is to meet with the doctors maybe this week as to the tumor. LOOK'N GOOD.
WE ARE VERY SORRY TO REPORT THAT PAUL HUSTED, KA6PVR IS A S.K. as of 6-13-08. There wil be a CW call up at the first of the net Sunday, 6-29-08, then we will tell stories about Paul. Paul attended almost every retreat for over 10 years. You may remember him as he had an artifical leg. One year he had little American Flags on it. There will be a memorial celebration for him at the family home on Saturday 6/28/08 at 2pm. He will be missed.
Cards may be sent to the family at:His son is Michael Husted, KB6VVA. Michael says that Paul's wife is just holding on and he's there with her. He's trying to find that peace pipe that Paul used at our WARFA ceremonies - to use during the memorial.

Lakeview Terrace, Ca. 91324
FYI - Paul started and performed the smoke signals, etc. during memorial celebrations that we used to do at the retreat.
Thanks Moody for the above information.
Band Conditions (C). Again static and some QSB. What was interesting was that almost all northern CA. stations reported lots of SMOKE. More than 800 fires in the state,

S-7. Plus signals were up and down. Big thanks to the relays, KJ7XP and W7HUT.
Very good discussion at the first part of the net. It seems that E-Bay has changed some of its seller rules. Most comments were negative. We suggest that you read the "Terms and Conditions" before you list.

Well the Lakers lost, so tonights net was a refuge for Laker fans, As one said, "Wait till next year". A lot showed up before the end of the game as Boston was 30 points ahead.
Gary, N6CZE, reported that Jerry, KD6SA is at home now. He also reminded us that Thursday, Jerry will be 65, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JERRY.

Band conditions both nights (D+). Band was crappy. Nuff said. Thanks
to the relays for Tuesday, KJ7XP and K6ERI. For Thursday night, KJ7XP and W7HUT.
N6CZE reported Thursday that
Jerry, KD6SA, was doing better. Friday
will be his last radiation treatment. Next week, they expect to run
a CT scan. Lets all pray that the tumor has shrunk.
On the other hand, here is a note I received from Ernie, KJ7WT.
Sorry to hear Jerry is not doing well. Our prayers are with him and his family. Marian, kc7gvb has two months of chemo to go. Her ct scan showed no cancer at this time. She has been sick for 7 - 10 days after each treatment and very tired. By the time she feels good she receives another treatment. 73 to all the warfa members... Ernie kj7wt

Band conditions both nights were about a "C". We had a lot of static from the big storms in the Midwest where tornados killed at least 22. Thanks to the relays, KJ7XP both nights. Michael, W6HUT for relay Thursday night and "The Don", W6KAT for Sunday night.
Band Conditions = D. Boy did the storms in the midwest raise the
static levels here in the west. At times it was over S-9 to 5 over.
Thanks to Forrest, KJ7XP and K6ERI, Jerry for the southern relay.
Don read a letter from Jaimie, XYL of Jerry, KD6SA. It was not good
news. Please go
Jerry's page and you can read the
entire text. Lets all say a prayer for him. Because of the letter,
the net was rather somber.

That's an A for amazing. My linear died Monday night (cheap 811 syndrome), so I got out the 706 (Mighty Mouse) and wound it up to 100 watts with a lot of compression. Things didn't look so hot at the beginning of the net (Band conditions: C), but it just seemed to get better as the evening progressed. When Pat WN8Z in New York State said I was S9 at his place, I had to give the band an A.
Northern Relay: Forrest, KJ7XP -- Southern Relay: Jerry K6ERI -- Thanks guys! You did a great job.
Jerry, KD6SA, will not be attending the WARFA retreat. His doctors have advised him not to travel. His chemo treatments are continuing and they are doing the job.
The WARFA Retreat: Many of us are already at the retreat! Quite a few WARFA folks checked in from the retreat.
If I were George, N7QVP, I'd move! George reports that there has been a series of earthquakes in the Reno area (scores of them up to magnitude 4 something), fires, and winds gusting up to 50 to 60 MPH!

Band Conditions (D+). The static tonight was an S-9. Went to the
"Strike Map" and found that over the US, a massive red area in IA,
MO and IN. Forrest, KJ7XP had to take his XYL to the hospital during
the net. Michael, W7HUT and myself (QNI) tried to get as many check
ins as we could. Gary, K6CZE reported that Jerry, KD6SA, drove the
car for a little while and he and "Billy" took a walk. Sounds like
he is on the mend. He has two more chemo treatments and then they
will see about the surgery. Way to go Jerry. The fellows that attended
the R/V Service Net outing had a blast. There were about 10 R/V's
at Buellton, CA. Mikr, K6LDK went shopping the other day for the
corn oil for the fish fry. He had "Sticker Shock". Last year he got
the oil at around 3+ dollars / gallon. This year is was $12.00 per
gallon. WOW. ONLY 6 MORE DAYS TO THE RETREAT

Band conditions (B+) Thanks for the relays tonight, Mike, K6LDK and

was open to all states (we did not get our "WAS"), but I think we
could in a few months, hi hi. Can not believe George. N7QVP. Went
to the hospital for knee surgery and came home the same day. Jerry
KD6SA start chemo again Monday. Sharks lost, LA won. Sharks in 7, LA ??
We are sorry to report that John, K6HXX is a S.K. John was an avid ATV person and would help with the demos at the retreats. He had a bottle of oxygen with him all the time. I remember him checking into WARFA in the mid 90's. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Joan, WD6BZN.

The sad news is I lost my mother on late Saturday 5 April or early 6 April. Services were held 11 April. While were making the memorial arrangement my brother felt chest pains and was taken to and admitted to a hospital and he had a stint installed and is recovering.
Irene's mom is not doing well and we will try to make it up to the Bay Area to see her this coming weekend.(She tells us "call before coming because I just may check out".) So if you don't hear us on the air for a while I'm sure you will understand.
